Alvin Lewis, Jr.

Senior Director, Restoring Neighborhoods

Biographical Info

As Senior Director, Restoring Neighborhoods for RCF Connects, Alvin’s primary areas of responsibility include spearheading our neighborhood restoration work.  We do this by identifying and rehabilitating abandoned homes for the Richmond Housing Renovation Program.  He will also oversee the strategic deployment of affordable and accessible transportation options within our communities. Alvin is excited about the new opportunity to work at RCF Connects because he understands the impact that homeownership (and the prosperity it represents) has upon families in the here and now, and for the generations that will follow.

Prior to joining the Richmond Community Foundation, Alvin worked as the Center Director at the Modesto Red Shield Community Center. He originally arrived in California (Sacramento area) in 1994 after being selected as the Executive Director of the United Christian Centers where he served for 19 years.
Alvin attended Colorado State University with a major in Social Work. Additionally, he was selected to participate in two separate year-long Leadership Training Forums in Denver and Phoenix. He has been professionally affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA for almost forty years while serving urban communities in Denver, Phoenix, and Sacramento.
