SparkPoint’s mission is to partner with agencies to empower individuals and families to become financially sustainable and advocates for social change.
SparkPoint Contra Costa (SPCC) Centers, located in Richmond, San Pablo, Pleasant Hill, and Bay Point, are financial education centers that help individuals, families, and college students who are struggling financially to make ends meet. SPCC helps them build financial stability through high-quality services that empower clients to improve credit, increase income, and build/preserve savings and assets.
SparkPoint Services
SparkPoint clients work one-on-one with a coach who helps to identify goals, develop a step-by-step action plan, and keep clients on track.
Our services focus on three key elements of financial stability and prosperity: managing credit, increasing income and building assets.

The Path to Prosperity
Clients are encouraged to set goals and check in with their coaches on a regular basis. Some of our most successful clients have been with SparkPoint for more than a year.
We define prosperity as:
- earning a self-sufficient income
- increasing your credit score to 700+
- having no revolving debt
- building enough savings to cover at least three months’ worth of living expenses.

- Over 8,000 individuals have been served by SparkPoint Contra Costa, since launching in 2011
- Each year, 87% of our active clients made progress toward prosperity (increased income, improved credit scores, increased savings, and/or reduced debt) and 25% achieved a long-term financial goal.
- SPCC’s VITA program helps individuals and families receive over $1 million per year in tax refunds.
